The Victorious Project

Mission

The Victorious Project is a Suicide Outreach Program of Dreaming Jaguar Medicine Church and was established in May of 2018 as a response to the suicide of Victor “Victorious” Tilvaro. Victor was an artist and an adventurer. He lived from the heart and spent his life boldly following his dreams. His creativity touched the lives of a large extended family across the globe. The Victorious Project is the natural continuation of Victor’s life’s work.

Victor left a legacy of powerful ideas. We honor Victor’s spirit and fulfill his final dream by transforming his mother’s RV, where he spent his last days, into a mobile work of art. We installed one of Victor’s most amazing works of art — the Space Sanctuary — inside of Victorious. This visionary art installation is dedicated to inner space exploration. The exterior of Victorious bears a 3D mural of Kali, the fierce Hindu Goddess of Liberation, and Her penultimate victory over the forces of darkness.

The Victorious Project is a safe space for those struggling with suicidal ideation and for those who have experienced the loss of loved ones to suicide. Victorious is a cosmic owl built out of a 1993 Winnebago Brave. Owls symbolize transformative change and have the ability to move gracefully through difficulties. They can see in the darkness and are evocative of courage, representing the mantra of our project, “Be Brave”. The Victorious Project is a living memorial and a literal vehicle for healing through the power of creativity.

Activations

Victorious offers participants several interactions.

  1. Memorial Feathers. The outside of Victorious is decorated in feathers bearing the names of those whose lives this project honors. We provide participants with the opportunity to create memorial feathers for Victorious.

  2. Love Letters to Life. Guests write messages of love, forgiveness, and remembrance for those lost to suicide. In a gentle ceremony, we read them aloud and release the words to the heavens — honoring their lives and supporting those left behind.

  3. Shadow Puppetry. We perform a puppet show about the power of courage and act out the story of the Balinese Barong and his miraculous victory over the Demon King. 

  4. Living Art. Victorious is an ever-evolving work in progress. We continuously paint and add details to the vehicle and encourage participants to join us in the creative process.

  5. Veterans Outreach. We work specifically with Veterans to provide community support and connect those struggling with suicidal ideation to resources and organizations that can help.
